Designing public space
Designer Hicham Lahlou (1973) lives in Casablanca. Not being Morocco’s capital, it’s with its approximately 5 million inhabitants the largest city in the country. After Johannesburg and Cairo, Casablanca is the third African megalopolis. It’s an industrial, modern city with a busy construction business and the largest port in Africa being built. It’s a top location for all major international luxury brands too. Like many contemporary designers, Lahlou works in public space, and thus has the huge responsibility to shape our future urban environment.
